Before I Fade Away (poem)

Before I Fade away
By me

Before I Fade Away
Everyone should have last words to say
Especially when there’s so many lessons to trade
Because not everyone has felt the blade
They don’t want to believe everyone isn’t meant to stay
There were so many promises falsely made
Which makes it my turn to fade away
Because this is another battle I lost today
Holding out everything I could have gave you
Knowing I’d take it back soon
Intending to be more than words
But that’s something you already heard

Before I Fade away
I’m staying a bit longer to take your hand
Just so I can pretend to make you understand
That I can’t live through a second chance
There was a hole in the path
With the cheating destiny that I shouldn’t have
Burry me in lies as I take my last gasp
Because this is the last time I want to hear you laugh
Watch my body let go of all the things that held me back
And my heart realize this is the last crack
It does feel nice to not have a repeated attack
It doesn’t mean I’m leaving because I overreact
Every little moment has a secret impact
